Choosing the Beach Which is Best for You

For anyone considering taking up Surfing as their latest sport, the thought of your first day at the beach and your first attempts at catching waves can be a very intimidating thought. Instead of thinking about how you’re going to get your board into your car and how you’re going to feel after your first wipeout, your most important thought should be “What beach am I going to choose to get acclimated with my board and which beach is going to be easiest for me to catch my first waves?”
A crowded beach with large, aggressive waves and experienced surfers is not where you will want to attempt surfing for the first time, it will be a very daunting experience and probably discourage you. A less frequented beach with small to medium sized slow moving waves and a sandy bottom and sandy shore line is the perfect place to get started.
Your best resource for surfing tips will be a friend who surfs, every surfer was a beginner at one point and will be able to give you tips which will shorten your learning curve and help you from making many first time beginner mistakes. If you don’t have a good friend who is a surfer then you will be able to find help at your local surf shop, or by making your first couple of ventures into the water with a surf instructor. A surf instructor will be able to offer professional surfing advice and guidance along with the added safety of being emergency medical trained. A private surfing tutorial will have you well on your way to surfing like a pro in no time. You can find a private surf instructor by simply searching the internet for a surf instructor in the area in which you want to learn how to surf, they will surely be knowledgeable about all regional beaches and together you will choose the surf break best suited for you.
A surf instructor is the best investment a new surfer can make in their surfing future. Having a professional selecting the ideal surf break for you to learn, helping you choose which surf board and fin set up is best for you, showing the safest way to enter and exit the surf and the proper paddling and wave catching techniques relieves virtually all of the stress off of a new surfers shoulders and greatly boosts self-confidence so all they have to concentrate on is just catching the wave. Having expert instruction from day one on your surf board will also ensure that you won’t form bad habits or technique, you will be learning the proper techniques right off the bat. A surf instructor is also a great networking tool. They can help you meet and make connections with others who are new to the sport of surfing, surfing with a buddy who is great for your development as a surfer, you will be able to motivate one another help each other improve your surfing performance.
If you’re interested in learning to surf don’t be intimidated by the sport, or the thought of finding the perfect beginner beach. Instead, consult the internet, sign up for lessons, go make a vacation out of learning to surf with an instructional vacation package and get yourself on your way to conquering your next sport. At this point you have nothing to lose but your balance, and that is only temporary.
